Grab your coat, We’re on the move!

We are excited to tell you that we are moving our servers and services away from our data centre in the US and bringing our hosting closer to home, in Europe.

Why are we moving to Europe?

We are always looking for ways we can improve our service to our customers and when we started Unify Hosting, we did so on the basis that we believed that website hosting should not be expensive.

We have grown, and we have now started to reach the limits of our current servers and data-centre. Also, earlier this year, our control panel provider cPanel changed their licensing agreements and restricted the amount of hosting plans we could have per license. cPanel announced this change suddenly which left many hosting providers having to limit their service and increase their prices. The price increase is quite dramatic and this left us looking for other options, as with other hosting providers.

Will there be any changes to my hosting plan?

Yes. We will be increasing the speed and flexibility of our service. Customers who have WordPress based websites will be moved over to a server that has been optimised for WordPress. Our current servers uses cPanel (control panel) and Apache (web server). Apache has been around for a long time and is very stable, also known to be a very generic web server which will work with many website platforms. Our new WordPress service will use DirectAdmin (control panel) and OpenLiteSpeed (web server) which is designed to deliver WordPress content fast.

Hosting on Cloud Servers

What is cPanel and DirectAdmin?

cPanel is the control panel supplied to all hosting accounts. cPanel gives you a graphical user interface which allows you to control all aspects of your website.

DirectAdmin is another type of control panel that will give you a graphical interface to control all aspects of your website and hosting account.

When will my service move and how long will it take?

We will contact all our customers individually to inform you of your move date and time and the expected down time of your website.

Do I need to backup my website?

If you have a CodeGuard service, you do not need to worry. We will in any event take a manual backup of your website before we migrate it across to our new servers.

Will you let me know when my site is back up?

Yes. Once we have migrated your site across to our new server and have made sure your website is functioning, we will contact you.
